Privacy Policy

Last updated July 2, 2026

Then is built to be quiet by default, and that includes how we handle your data. This page explains what we collect, why, and how to delete it.

What we collect

Account information: the email address and display name you sign up with, and the handle you choose. Used to authenticate you and identify you to approved friends.

Content you create:photos, captions, the private "back" reflection on a moment, notes you leave on friends' moments, and which moments you've saved or kept. This is visible only to you and, where the app's sharing rules allow it, to friends you've approved — never to the public or to us for any purpose beyond running the app.

Relationship data: who you follow, who follows you, pending follow requests, and any blocks or reports you file.

Device and notification data:a push notification token, so we can deliver notifications you've opted into (like a friend leaving a note).

Diagnostic data: if the app crashes or errors, we receive a stack trace, device model, OS version, and app version through Sentry — never your photos or message content.

Usage analytics:a small set of anonymous product events (for example, "account created," "moment shared," "follow request approved") through PostHog, tied to an internal user ID rather than your name or email. We don't track screen-by-screen behavior, session recordings, or ad identifiers.

What we don't do

Who processes it

Your data is stored and processed by our infrastructure providers: Firebase/Google Cloud (accounts, photos, and app data), Sentry (crash diagnostics), and PostHog (anonymous product analytics). Each is bound to process data only on our behalf, consistent with this policy.

Your controls

You can change your privacy setting, appearance in Wander, and notification preferences at any time from Settings. You can delete a moment permanently, or delete your entire account — which removes your moments, relationships, handle, and uploaded files.

Children

Then is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll update the date above and, for material changes, let you know in the app.
